Hiring - Packing and Handling Assistant

Posted on February 27, 2020 by Rachel Hanretty

Mademoiselle Macaron is a growing company specialising in producing handmade French macarons. We are sending more macarons out into the world than ever before and we need someone who can help lighten the load (literally and figuratively).
You will be working with Monsieur Andy in our Leith kitchen and in some cases, you'll be waiting for the macarons to come out the oven before putting them immediately in a box and on to the courier!
This is a part time position based in our kitchen for 16 hours a week, 9am - 1pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
This role will focus on:
  • Picking and packing orders from wholesale quantities of 15,000 to a small box of perfect macarons ordered online.
  • Doing stock take of packing materials
  • Handling miscellaneous customer enquires
  • Efficient: we will work to deadlines set by couriers so we need someone who doesn’t dilly dally and focuses on the task at hand.
  • Focused and attentive: we need people to read the packing slip properly and not send out the wrong quantities or flavours of macaron.
  • Computer literate: we use Shopify to process our web orders and other online platforms to run our business. Training will be given of course,  but ideally we want someone who is comfortable with an iPad/laptop.
  • Confident: our kitchen environment can be fast paced with orders changing quickly so we need someone who is confident and able to keep an eye on things.
  • Flexible: there will be days when we might require you to stay a little longer or perhaps there’s a project that you could help with that might take extra time.
We’re a growing team and try to make sure we have fun along the way. Sometimes there’s pizza Fridays and sometimes there’s Meditation Mondays (not mandatory!). Work hard, play hard!
If this sounds like you, please get in touch with Andy at with a CV and why you think you’d be a good fit for the team.
