Paris Match for macaron mademoiselle
It’s the symbol of decadent Parisian cafe culture, but the French macaron is being given a Scottish twist by a young Edinburgh entrepreneur. Self-styled “Mademoiselle Macaron”, known to her friends as 24 year-old Rachel Hanretty, is hoping to bring macarons to the masses at her new cafe. The macaron tycoon has brought some Gallic flair to Grindlay Street in the shadow of Edinburgh castle, but you could easily imagine it was the Eiffel Tower looming overhead, especially since Ms Hanretty has had a floor to ceiling wooden replica of the Paris attraction erected in her cafe.
