Top 4 Picnic Spots in Paris

There’s something about a picnic in Paris that just feels... right. A freshly baked baguette, something fizzy, a box of luxury macarons and voilà you’re living your own French fantasy. 

If you're lucky enough to be heading to Paris this spring and looking for leisurely afternoon plans or the perfect spot to soak up the city, then Paris is full of green corners and grand views to throw down your blanket and indulge.

Here are four of my favourite places for a proper Parisian picnic trust me, you’ll want to add these to your list.

Jardins de Tuileries

 A walk I'd often do when the weather started to get warmer was from the Louvre to Place de la Concorde through the Tuileries gardens. I'd take a break halfway through and watch the world go by and sit among the many statues dotted about.

Champ de Mars 

Named after the Roman god of war because it used to be a military parade ground, the Champ de Mars is the most picturesque setting for a picnic with a view of la Tour Eiffel.

Going to be in Paris for Bastille Day on 14th July? This is the perfect place to watch the fireworks.

Jardins du Luxembourg 

One thing comes to mind when talking about the Luxembourg gardens and it's the race for the iconic green seats round the large pond, or grand bassin. Sit back with your picnic and watch children play with miniature sailing boats around the pond.

Outside Sacre Coeur 

So whilst this well-known landmark can be really busy with tourists, it's still one of the best viewing spots to look out on all of Paris, in my opinion anyway. Get up early and watch the sunrise from this grassy bank, or, sit there to watch the sunrise after staying out all night...
