Your Guide to Hosting a High-End Afternoon Tea
There’s something magical about afternoon tea in the spring sun, sipping something sparkling, and savouring patisseries in the sunshine.
Whether you’re hosting close friends or planning a full-blown garden soirée, here’s how I like to create a high-end afternoon experience.
Step 1 - The Setting
Lay out your prettiest table linen, napkins and mismatched vintage china. A tiered stand is a must, it's not just practical, it gives that instant afternoon tea at Hotel Plaza Athénée vibe. Add fresh flowers in coloured glass vases, cushions for lounging, and of course, a chilled bottle of champagne within reach.
Step 2: The Menu
A well-balanced afternoon tea should be both savoury and sweet. Here's my go-to menu for a luxurious afternoon tea spread.
I always start with our Classic Macaron Box, a dreamy selection of traditional Parisian flavours like pistachio, raspberry, vanilla and rose.
They’re the perfect pop of colour and elegance for any tier (and let’s be honest, they’re usually the first to be eaten)
Step 3: The Drinks
No afternoon tea is complete without a teapot. Opt for a floral Earl Grey, Darjeeling, or even a chilled hibiscus blend if the sun’s really blazing.
And if it’s a special occasion (or you simply believe in celebrating the everyday as I do, pop open some champagne. Or rosé. Or both. This is your party!)
Step 4: Pièce de Résistance
Hosting something bigger and really want to impress your guests? A Macaron Tower is the way to go. Standing tall and elegant, it’s perfect, the centrepiece every garden party didn’t know it needed.
Or, for a more casual gathering, our Macaron Trays of 24 are perfect for sharing with minimal fuss and maximum impact.
