Everything you need to know about Wine and Macaron Pairings

Written by Rachel Hanretty

La Vendange 2025: France’s Grape Harvest Season and the Joy of Wine (with Macarons, of course!)

Paris' beloved harvest festival - la Fête des Vendanges - has just wrapped up. For five days, the cobbled streets around the Sacré-Cœur were filled with music, laughter, and wine glasses raised high. There were parades, tastings, and even a grape-blessing ceremony!

And whilst the city may have packed away the bunting and finished its last sip of rosé, it doesn’t mean the party’s over and we’re just getting started. It’s time to channel your inner Parisienne, pop open something sparkling, and see which macaron makes the best match for your glass. Because in France, even harvest season ends with dessert.

This year, La Vendange 2025 has come a little early, thanks to a warm, sun-soaked summer that ripened grapes fast and full of flavour. From the rolling hills of Burgundy to the valleys of Bordeaux, pickers have been hard at work bringing in a harvest that promises freshness, fruit, and finesse.

Though yields are smaller, winemakers are excited, 2025 could be a beautifully balanced vintage, ideal for light, joyful drinking.

Choosing a Wine to Celebrate the Season

You don’t need to be a wine expert to drink like a Parisian. Just think light, bright, and a little bit indulgent.

For fresh, fruity flavours: Look for a Sauvignon Blanc, a crisp Crémant, or a lively rosé — the kind that reminds you of sunshine and laughter.

For cosy evenings: Try a Pinot Noir or a light red from the Loire Valley — perfect with chocolate or nutty desserts.

For celebrations big or small: Nothing beats bubbles. A chilled glass of Crémant de Bourgogne or Champagne makes even a Tuesday feel festive.

The Sweetest Pairings: Macarons & Wine

Pairing wine with macarons is all about balance, not too sweet, not too serious, just perfectly delicious.

Vanilla macaron → Moscato d’Asti: soft, delicate, and sparkling. Our vanilla macarons in party trays are perfect for adding to celebrations.

Lemon macaron → unoaked Chardonnay: fresh and zesty with a hint of cream. Our lemon macarons sit nicely with our yellow themed macaron gift box

Raspberry macaron → dry rosé: fruity and flirty, a perfect match. A selection of fruity macarons would be perfect for a birthday celebrated  with a fine glass of rosé.

Pistachio macaron → Chenin Blanc: elegant with a touch of nuttiness. You can't really go wrong with pistachio macarons. We make them to our secret Parisian recipe so naturally they're included in our classic macaron gift box

Chocolate macaron → Pinot Noir: smooth and indulgent, made for slow sipping. A glass of this and our chocolate lover's selection? Could there be a better match made in heaven? Only if you got to try these and sip wine on a Paris balcony, I suppose.

We might have missed the celebrations in Montmartre but whether you're in Birmingham, Manchester or Glasgow, a sip of something special and our delicious French macarons will have you enjoying the best macarons outside of Paris.
