Cake Maker Spotlight - Emma's Kitchen

Written by Consuela Sutherland

For Mademoiselle Rachel her first bite of a macaron represented a moment of luxury and as such, we strive to ensure that each of our customers experience a taste of Paris with every bite. We're always excited to see the imaginative and fun ways our macarons are used to decorate cakes and patisserie by talented bakers.

Emma's Kitchen is a home-based bakery based in Wiltshire where she whips up fabulous creations!

We sat down for a (virtual!) cup of tea with Emma to chat about all things cakes and weddings...

Tell us a little about yourself, what's your business, and when did you start?

I started my business, Emma's Kitchen, approximately 10 years ago after spending many years as a manager for a large retail company. After coming home and cooking for friends and family, I realised it was time to turn my hobby into a business. Since then, Emma's Kitchen has only grown stronger, and I haven't looked back since.

What inspired you launch Emma's Kitchen?

My inspiration stemmed from my parents and grandparents, who were renowned for their hotels, restaurants, and tearooms, as well as their passion for baking and homemade cakes. My father and I often engaged in friendly competitions to determine who could bake the best treats.

What's your speciality bake and where do you draw inspiration from?

I specialise in crafting bespoke buttercream floral wedding cakes, along with delectable brownies and other small bakes, which you can often find me selling at local markets. Social media platforms serve as a wellspring of inspiration for me, where I discover countless talented bakers showcasing their creations.

Where are you based and how can people order from you/what area do you cover?

I am based in Swindon, Wiltshire, and I serve across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds. Most of my customers place orders through my website, www.emmaskitchen.org, or via Instagram @emmaskitchen71.

How do you incorporate our macarons into your creations?

I adore incorporating macarons into my cakes for that extra special touch, as well as using them as wedding favours. Recently, I've created a stunning macaron tower featuring delightful flavours vanilla, pistachio, and chocolate mint. My go-to flavours, however, remain raspberry and classic vanilla for their timeless appeal.

How did you hear about Mademoiselle Macaron?

Discovering MM a few years ago has been a game-changer for me. I've ordered countless macarons for weddings, birthdays, and other events, and every experience has been exceptional. The team is consistently helpful and friendly, and the macarons themselves are simply divine in taste. Now, I'm eager to take a course and learn how to make them myself.

Merci & Bisous! Rachel x
